Obituaries found in
Champaign County, Ohio Newspapers
(various years)
The listings are in
alphabetical order. Click on the letter
of the last name you are researching (see below). A list of names beginning with that letter will appear.
Please Keep in Mind:
· This is not a complete list. Volunteers have worked on this over the years, so the dates jump around. They range from the late 1890’s to present. If the year is only two digits, it is in the 1900’s. The indexing of the obituaries is an on-going process. If you do not see a listing for the person you are researching, please feel free to contact us.
The dates listed are dates that obituaries appeared in the newspaper, this is why there may be multiple dates listed.
·
Names
were entered as they appear in the newspaper.
There
may be misspellings or incomplete names.
·
Women
were often listed under their husbands name such as “Mrs. John Smith”. Please look through the entire list of the
surnames you are researching.
Children
sometimes were not named and are listed under “infant” or “child”.
·
Some
listings state what newspaper they were taken from. Throughout the years,
there have been times when there were more than one newspaper in the Urbana
area. The third column indicates what newspaper the obituary was located in: CD
stands for Champaign Democrat and UDC stands for Urbana Daily Citizen.
·
As
always, there may be typographical errors.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
